Raymond Corp. Wins Award for Training Program
In mid-June, the Raymond Corp. received the CNY BEST Learning and Performance Organization Diamond Award for its Course Manager Training and Development Program. The company was awarded by the Central New York chapter of the American Society of Training & Development (CNY ASTD), which annually recognizes excellence in learning and performance practices with the CNY BEST Learning and Performance Awards. The Diamond Award is the highest honor that a corporation can receive from CNY BEST.
“Raymond makes it a priority to deliver superior maintenance support through our comprehensive customer service programs,” says Dave Norton, vice president of customer solutions at Raymond. “In recent years, we have designed a Technician Development Program that is self-paced, learner-centered and performance-based — providing best-in-class learning and development opportunities to Raymond employees.”
To ensure the Technician Development Program is facilitated properly, trainers of this program are required to have a new skill set and also a new title — course manager. To properly train course managers, Raymond’s Course Manager Training and Development Program provides them the opportunity to learn, practice and receive feedback on the higher competencies needed (facilitation, coaching, Socratic questioning, observation and group dynamics, among other skills) to facilitate the newly hired and veteran technician’s learning process.
Nominations for this year’s CNY BEST Learning and Performance Awards represented a wide-range of organizations. A panel of local and national judges representing the profession and community evaluated the nominations for quality of learning and performance practices, practice results and demonstrations linking to the strategic growth or success of the organization.
