Royal Dutch Shell Finds Favor in ITI in the USA and Canada
Industrial Training International has become a favorable ally and service provider for Royal Dutch Shell in the USA and Canada over the past year. ITI has conducted training services for the oil and gas leader for over 20 years; however, in the past year, the relationship has increased significantly.
In April 2012, Shell approached ITI with the proposition of developing a custom rigging training program for Shell personnel and contractors in Canada. ITI President/CEO, and Technical Director, Mike Parnell, worked with Shell lifting and hoisting subject-matter experts to create a program that would include ITI’s world-class hands-on training approach in conjunction with Shell-specific regulations. After several visits with Shell management at ITI’s Woodland, Washington Headquarters and a few meetings in Edmonton, Alberta – the “Shell Onshore Mobile Crane Rigging” program was finalized.
In December 2012, after several revisions and a formal presentation of the program made to Shell, the program was fully-approved. ITI is currently the only training company qualified to conduct this training program for Shell in Canada.
ITI officially began conducting programs in January 2013 and has several open-enrollment dates in Western Canada scheduled for the first half of the year.
In February of 2013, Shell management requested that ITI participate in its internal review committee which will be reviewing the "Shell Lifting & Hoisting Standard." Shell reviews and updates its Standard on a regular basis and has chosen to invite ITI to be a part of that internal review committee.
