Raymond’s Iowa Facility Receives Manufacturing Excellence Award

The Raymond Corporation in Muscatine, Iowa, has received the annual President’s Manufacturing Excellence Award given by Toyota Industries Corporation. Raymond’s Muscatine facility is being recognized for exemplary use of the Toyota Production System principles to transform several production lines, resulting in improvements in the areas of quality, cost, and delivery.

“Based on the Toyota Production System philosophies and principals, Toyota executives evaluated several locations in November 2010 to help determine who should receive this prestigious manufacturing award,” said James Malvaso, president and CEO of Toyota Materials Handling North America. “As a result, Raymond’s Muscatine facility exceeded expectations in all areas of manufacturing and production through the use of the Toyota Production System tools and processes. We congratulate the facility and all its employees.”

The official award ceremony was held Monday, May 9, at the Muscatine facility, and was presided over by James Malvaso, president and CEO of Toyota Materials Handling North America; Michael Field, president of operations and engineering division for Raymond; and Chuck Pascarelli, president of sales and marketing division for Raymond. Along with an award plaque, Toyota issued a monetary award that Muscatine used to host an employee luncheon to recognize all associates for their hard work and dedication.
