Columbus McKinnon Sponsors Canada Crane Conference

Columbus McKinnon Corp. (CMCO) has signed up as associate sponsor for MCM Events' second Crane & Rigging Conference (CRC) Canada, which will take place Sept. 13-14, 2012, at the Sutton Place Hotel, Edmonton, Alberta. CMCO is a global leader in providing products and application knowledge to help its customers lift, position, or secure materials easily and safely.

Headline speakers

Mike Gelskey Sr., president and CEO of Lift-It Manufacturing, will again be among the headline speakers, having been the toast of many enlightened end users when the inaugural CRC Canada opened to a standing room only crowd in October 2011 at the nearby Fantasyland Hotel, where professionals from all the western provinces and many from the United States attended the two-day event.

Other headliners will include Mike Parnell, president, Industrial Training International, and Judy Mellott, president and CEO, All Canadian Training Institute Inc. (ACTi). Gary Sullivan, owner, Oceanside Equipment, Halifax, Nova Scotia, will present on cold temperature shackles.

CRC Canada 2012 will also feature a much anticipated update from last year’s panel, which discussed harmonization of regulations relevant to cranes and rigging with the other three Western provinces—British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba—and possibly beyond.


The event will again provide opportunities to improve the management of crane operations before, during, and after the lift. Fleet and facilities managers, safety leaders, operators and riggers will participate in sessions to help users apply new regulations; evaluate and safely prepare the work environment; hone inspection skills; manage and maintain equipment; and learn from colleagues and competitors.


The conference will focus on construction, mobile cranes, overhead cranes, hoists and rigging in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba; the North West Territories are addressing major growth in the oil, gas and mining sectors over the next 10 years.

Breaks in the program will give delegates the opportunity to peruse an exhibit area featuring displays from a variety of vendors.
