Snorkel Parts Ways with Tindale; Hires UK Assembly Workers

Richard Tindale will step down as global sales & marketing director at Snorkel, effective April 5th. Tindale joined Snorkel’s parent company, The Tanfield Group Plc, in 2006 as it prepared to buy UpRight Powered Access. He has played an integral part in the development of the business over the past six years, including a key role in the transition to the Snorkel brand, the growth of Snorkel’s global distributor network, and new product development.

Tindale is leaving Snorkel to pursue an opportunity as part-owner and director of the United Kingdom-based APS Group, which re-sells and rents construction and industrial equipment.

In other company news, Snorkel is currently hiring assembly workers and expanding its apprentice program. Snorkel parent company The Tanfield Group Plc previously downsized the workforce at its Vigo Centre headquarters in Tyne & Wear due to the recession. With demand once more returning for aerial lifts, the company is recruiting this year.

“After talking to our key customers, our build plan for 2012 calls for up to a 50 percent growth in our assembly workforce between now and September,” said Brendan Campbell, group operations director, “This will be a gradual process as we ramp up production in line with demand. Principally, we will be employing production operatives for our assembly lines, but we are also taking on three new apprentices as we build for the future.”

Snorkel is currently seeing resurgent demand from Northern Europe and strong growth in Latin America, driven by its booming mining sector and massive public works projects.

Snorkel is also expanding the workforce at its production facility in Elwood, Kansas, by 30 percent this year.
