JLG Announces New Vertical Lifts, Sale of Gradall Excavators
The latest additions to McConnellsburg, Pa.-based JLG Industries aerial lift product lines include the 20MVL and the E18M, E26MJ, and the E33MS, which will be introduced at The Rental Show.
JLG's new series of self-propelled mast-style boom lifts include the E18MJ, E26MJ, and E33MJ and feature a vertical telescoping mast with a jib boom that extends the platform away from the mast. Coupled with 360-degree pivoting capability, workers have access to hard-to-reach overhead sites. With the mast lowered and jib retracted, the lifts become compact units that are easy to navigate through narrow aisles and in tight spaces. They can be driven at speeds up to 2.5 mph and have 20% gradeability.
The JLG Model E26MJ will be on-display at The Rental Show, and it features a 26'2” platform height, a 7'2” jib boom, and a 440-pound platform capacity. When stowed, t is only 6'6”x3'3”x6'3”. The E26MJ is electric powered and has non-marking, lugged tires for both inside and outside operation on improved surfaces.
The 20MVL mobile vertical lift is designed for heavy duty with a robust gearbox, drive motor, controls, and battery charger. It can be driven at its 19'6” platform height. Standard equipment includes a 350-pound platform capacity and a 26”x28” platform.
The clutch-free gearbox is the same as used on JLG's larger scissor lifts, and the new electric drive motor uses four pick-up brushes to increase brush life and drive speed to 3.5 mph. A light is illuminated at the control panel indicating that the drive motor brushes need replaced, protecting the motor from damage. The Model 20MVL also has a new pistol-grip joystick controller for one-handed operation and a 25-amp charger with 25% more charging power for the standard 100 amp-hour batteries. There is also a 110-volt double receptacle on the platform.
Safety features on the 20MVL include interlocked controls, an automatic pothole protection system, and a 1.5 tilt alarm. Options include various platform sizes with gull-wing platform entry, a programmable four-digit security lock, a crane hook, a fluorescent light tube caddy, and an 8”x18” tool tray.
JLG also has announced it has sold its line of Gradall excavators to Alamo Group, Inc., for $39.4 million. The sale includes the 430,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in New Philadelphia, Ohio, as well as the related equipment, machinery, tooling, and intellectual property. In addition to the purchase agreement, the companies have executed a supply agreement covering those components for JLG's telescopic material handler product lines that are currently manufactured at the New Philadelphia facility.
"Divesting this product line is consistent with our strategy of focusing our efforts on our core access business and the proceeds from the sale will be used to continue implementing our growth strategy," said Bill Lasky, JLG's Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer. "The Gradall excavator is a well-known and highly respected niche product line, but it is not a core business for JLG.”
