MTU Detroit Diesel to Focus on Off-Highway Markets
The sale of MTU Detroit Diesel Inc., Detroit, to private equity firm EQT Partners was finalized in March. MTU Detroit Diesel is the former Off-Highway division of Detroit Diesel Corporation, which was spun off as a separate company in January.
“We are tremendously excited about the direction we are headed,” said Ulrich Kemnitz, CEO of MTU Detroit Diesel, Inc. “With the added investment in capital, research and development that EQT brings, we will be able to maintain our position as technology leaders and deliver even more value to our customers going forward.”
“With this arrangement, we have a much stronger dedication to off-highway customers, a key one being the crane market,” explains Duane Warden, Construction and Industrial Sales Manager. “With the right people, products and support, we believe we have a stronger company to better service our off-highway customers.”
MTU Detroit Diesel will continue to provide the same engine product line and its service network remains unchanged.
In related news, the company will open a new field service office and warehouse in July in Stafford, Texas. This facility be the new home of MTU-DD's existing oil and gas team, and is opening in response to the company's expanding service offerings to the booming energy sector.
