Three Elected to ACRP Board

The Association of Crane and Rigging Professionals (ACRP) took their General Assembly to the Gulf Coast in May, electing three new board members and tackling issues related to offshore environments. The gathering was held in Houston, Texas.

Scott Fleming of Unirope Ltd., Mike Terry of Fluor, and Tom Gilbert of Cianbro, were elected ACRP Board Members, while Rick Knoche was re-elected to a second term in office. ACRP President Jim Cahill of J.F. White Contracting Co., Vice President Paul Kuber of Exxon Mobile Refining Supply Co., and Secretary-Treasurer Jerry Klinke of ACRA Enterprises Inc., all continue to serve out the second of a two-year term.

This year's session topics included “Design and Use of Jumbo Slings for Offshore Environments, “Operating Cranes in an Offshore/Barge Environment,” and “Application/Selection of High-Performance Synthetic Slings.” With about 65 in attendance, this year's program also included a report on recent standards changes affecting the crane and rigging industry.

ACRP's 2007 General Assembly will be held next May in San Diego, Calif., and the theme will be Hoisting & Lifting in the Construction Industry. Possible topics include personnel lifting, crane attachments, self-erecting tower cranes and multiple crane lifts as well as training instruction on developing lesson plans and instructing diverse groups.
