Manitex Unveils Industry’s Largest Boom Truck

Manitex, Georgetown, Texas, introduced its latest high-capacity truck-mounted crane at the Global Petroleum Show held June 13-15 in Calgary. Possibly the largest boom truck available on the market, the new Manitex 4596T possesses a base rating of 45 tons at 8-foot radius. This higher rating and maximum reach to 40-feet significantly exceeds those of previous Manitex truck-mounted cranes and those of its competitors.

The lower frame is designed for 5th wheel attachment and trailer applications. Dual-stage rear outrigger jacks provide significant penetration and greatly improve much-needed ground clearance. This tractor-mount configuration is suited for remote oil industry applications. A taxi crane version, similar to other Manitex S-series crane models, will be introduced later in the year.

Standard features on this machine include four-section, 96-ft extended length boom, continuous rotation, free swing with pilot operated controls and Manitex exclusive ACCUSwing feathering control, aluminum floats, oil cooler, cab and heater. Newly introduced as a standard feature is the Manitex ROCSolid Radio Outrigger Control, which provides wireless operation of the outriggers from any ground location surrounding the crane or from the operator's cab. Over rear and on rubber load charts are included, as well as full and reduced outrigger spread load charts, common to all Manitex riding seat boom trucks. Crane capacities are fully integrated with a Hirschmann-Mentor Load Moment Indicator and radio ATB. Optional features include auxiliary winch with rooster sheave, two-section, offsettable jib, and air conditioning in the operators cab.
