JLG Introduces Heavy Duty Electric Aerial Lift
JLG Industries, McConnellsburg, Pa., has released preliminary specs for its new 12-foot heavy duty electric aerial lift, the 1230ES. Although not a scissor lift but rather a mast-type elevation system, Mark Mohn, JLG product champion, said the 1230ES is designated as part of the ES electric scissor lift series because it shares many of the same operational concepts as JLG electric scissor lifts, including the controls and electrical system. “It's at the short-end of that family,” he said.
According to Mohn, JLG's customers were asking for a short, heavy duty machine that would hold up in construction applications. “UpRight owned this market with the TM12 mast lift,” he said. “The market was looking for something like this from JLG.”
Key specs include a 5-inch inside turning radius, 3 mph drive speed, and 500-pound platform capacity. Overall stowed dimensions are 30”x53.5”x65.25”, and overall weight is 1,740 pounds. Standard equipment featured on the 1230ES are fully proportional lift and drive, 110VAC to the platform, and automatic traction control. The 1230ES's all-steel platform deck and rails and steel swing-out battery doors are suited for heavy duty applications. Accessories and options include a flashing amber beach, and 1,000-watt AC inverter/charger.
The vertical boom features a three-section multi-stage cylinder inside the mast. With no cables, rollers, or chains to grease or adjust and only four hoses on the entire unit, Mohn said the 1230ES is virtually “maintenance-free.”
Typical applications include multi-story construction, factories, refurbishment construction, pipe fitting, and sprinkler installation. Mohn said the single largest end-user for the 1230ES will be electricians, which is one of the reasons why this machine is debuting this week at the NECA tradeshow in Boston, Mass.
The 1230ES is being manufactured at the Toucan manufacturing facility in Tonniers, France. It will make its official unveiling at The Rental Show and Bauma.
