ZPMC wins order for 22 port straddle carriers in South Africa
ZPMC’s South Africa Subsidiary has won a contract to supply 22 port straddle carriers to the South Africa Transnet TPT Terminal, increasing ZPMC’s market share the country. This is the second South African port to place an order with ZPMC during the COVID-19 pandemic.
ZPMC describes its straddle carriers as of light structure, they are equipped with large power diesel engines and integrated hoist reducer brakes. To ensure safe operation, the straddle carriers are equipped with automatic fire extinguishers, fatigue monitoring system, operator’s cab security system and the semi-automatic system for automatic path identification, obstacle avoidance and container stopping at high positions.
The first batch of 22 STSs will be delivered by the end of this year. The straddle carriers will have a lifting capacity of 66 tonnes and follow other recent deliveries to ports in Barcelona, Spain, Stockholm, Sweden, and Aarhus, Denmark.
