Crown Equipment Strengthens Manufacturing Footprint
Crown Equipment Corporation, one of the world’s largest material handling companies, recently completed a project adding a second facility to the company’s manufacturing operation in Greencastle, Indiana to support growing demand for the company’s electric and internal combustion counterbalance forklifts.
The new facility includes a combination of manufacturing processes and finished goods and component storage to support the growth of the entire Greencastle operation. Crown’s first Greencastle facility opened in 1996 and expanded in 2012.
“We are excited to be strengthening our investment in the Greencastle area,” said Randy Niekamp, vice president of human resources, Crown Equipment. “The dedication and productivity of the local workforce is key to helping expand our production capacity. This new facility is an important element in our desire to exceed customer expectations and fuel global growth.”
Crown designs and manufactures the majority of its forklifts and components, including electric motors, drive units, valve bodies, masts, power units, cylinders, electronic modules, wire harnesses, forks, seats and more. The company is vertically integrated across 19 manufacturing facilities in 11 locations worldwide, and the approach extends throughout its distribution model of Crown-owned branches and certified independent dealers.
