Wight Access Hire Expands into Tracked Booms

A rental company on the Isle of Wight, UK has moved into tracked boom hire, after investing in a new Hinowa machine.

Wight Access Hire, a division of Wight Generators Ltd, has taken delivery of the island’s first Hinowa Lightlift 15.70 Performance IIIS. The lightweight, compact crawler-mounted boom provides a 15.4m maximum working height. With low ground pressure it is ideal for working indoors or for rough and uneven terrain.

Wight Access Hire managing director Brian Barclay said, “Everyone who has hired the machine has absolutely loved it. The controls are intuitive so it’s easy to use and it’s a very lightweight, compact machine.

“It is very versatile and that is reflected in our customer base so far – everything from working on building fascia to servicing the navigation lighting at the end of Ryde Pier.”

Wight purchased the machine from Access Platform Sales (APS), the exclusive UK distributor for Hinowa. It joins a growing access fleet including Niftylift towable booms and Genie electric scissor lifts.

The fourth model in Hinowa’s Lightlift Performance IIIS range, the 15.70 has compact dimensions, with an overall length of 4.02m, width of 0.78m and stowed height of 1.99m. Length is further reduced to 3.4m with the platform cage removed.

Its working envelope provides outreach of 6.6m while elevating to 10m, and still working flush to a wall. The machine can lift 230kg – enough for two people with tools – without restriction throughout its entire working envelope. Platform rotation is offered as standard. It has a compact stabiliser footprint of 2.8m x 2.8m, while the drive train has a three-speed system, which ensures it reaches the work area quickly.
