IAPS Group’s new premises
IAPS Group is expanding into new premises to facilitate the next phase in its rapid growth, and its recent decision to enter the van-mounted boom market.
One of the UK’s biggest independent powered access distributors has moved into larger headquarters Telford, Shropshire. The three acre site includes a spacious yard, offices, workshops and a spare parts warehouse. In total it is more than double the size of the Group’s previous facility, which was on the same industrial estate.
The workshops will have 5t and 16t lifting capacity overhead cranes, along with four 4t vehicle lifts. This investment in plant will facilitate the mounting of Aldercote booms to panel vans.
Steve Couling, Managing Director of IAPS Group, said: “The new premises – more than double the size of our old site – provide our people with a great working environment and room for us to continue to grow.
“Our investment in the workshop cranes and vehicle lifts also demonstrates how serious we are about becoming a major player in the van-mounted boom lift sector. All the building blocks are in place ready for the launch of the exciting new product line later this year.”
The move into new premises reflects the Group’s growth since the merger of IPS and APS to form IAPS Group in 2013. The Group now comprises four divisions: APS, which sells new and Approved Used equipment; IPS, a leading supplier of replacement parts; PSR, providing service, maintenance, refurbishment, repair and emergency breakdown cover; and Outriggerpads, which provides a range of spreader plates and crane mats.
In 2015 APS was confirmed as an authorised distributor of Genie AWP products. It already represents brands including Hinowa, Isoli, MEC and Omme Lift. IPS has recently launched its own branded traction batteries and workshop consumables, as well as taking on the UK distributorship for Thermoil battery additives. PSR has expanded its team and now has 24 directly employed mobile service engineers, covering the entire UK.
The new site comprises 16,000sqft of offices and meeting rooms – a fourfold increase on the old premises – and 66,000sqft of workshops, stores and yard space, which is more than double the old site. Along with the new, larger headquarters in Telford, The Group is also retaining its existing offices and workshops in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire and Wishaw, Scotland.
