New president for DSM Dyneema

DSM Dyneema, the inventor and manufacturer of Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene (UHMWPE) fibre branded as Dyneema, which is used in ropes and cables has appointed a new president.

After five years in the post Gerard de Reuver will step down as president of DSM Dyneema on 1 August 2015, he will be succeeded by Golnar Motahari Pour, a German national with extensive global management experience.

The transition will begin immediately, and be completed by the end of next month. As of 1 August 2015, de Reuver will take on a new role in a corporate culture project, reporting to Dimitri de Vreeze, member of the DSM managing board.

Motahari Pour, meanwhile, is already familiar with DSM Dyneema, having been engaged with the company in the last couple of months, as an independent business strategy and operations consultant. She is well versed in materials sciences. From 1993 to 2007 she held several management positions at General Electric Corp. in the Plastics, Silicones and Consumer Products businesses. Prior to joining DSM, Motahari Pour was a member of the European Executive Committee responsible for Emerald Kalama Chemical’s plasticizer business in Europe and the Middle East.

She has vast international business experience in the chemical industry, having lived and worked in the Netherlands, Belgium, United Kingdom, Hungary, France and Germany. Golnar holds a Master of Arts degree & Postgraduate Studies in Ecology from the Applied Sciences Faculty of the University of Brussels.

Dyneema offers maximum strength combined with minimum weight. It is up to 15 times stronger than quality steel and up to 40% stronger than aramid fibres, on a weight for weight basis. Dyneema fibre floats on water and is extremely durable and resistant to moisture, UV light and chemicals.

UHMWPE fiber from DSM Dyneema is produced in Heerlen, The Netherlands and in Greenville, North Carolina, USA. DSM Dyneema is also a partner in a high modulus polyethylene (HMPE) manufacturing joint venture in Japan.
