Three Genie Telehandlers to Debut at Intermat

Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), Grantham, U.K., announces the launch of three new telehandler models, combining new engines that comply with Stage IIIB emission regulations with a comprehensive redesign of their popular European range of high reach and rotating models. The new GTH 4014 and GTH 4018 fixed models are in the 4-ton class and offer a reach of 14 meters and 18 meters respectively.  In addition, the GTH 5021 R is a new 21-meter rotating model with a maximum lift capacity of 5,000 kg.  The GTH 4018 and GTH 5021 R will be on show for the first time at Intermat.

“Our three new designs reinforce the Genie commitment to reduce the complexity and cost of telehandler ownership, as well as complying with the European Stage III B pollutant-emission standards,” said Gert De Boon, Terex Aerial Work Platforms’ telehandler product manager for Europe. “With energy efficiency, simple operation and innovative serviceability features for straight-forward maintenance, these redesigned models also offer best-in-class performances in their respective categories from a smaller footprint. This makes them ideal for tough work in congested environments.”

The latest-generation Stage IIIB Perkins engines have been subtly incorporated within the stream-line chassis designs. This gives the operator an excellent field of vision of the worksite.  The new engine powers a hydrostatic drive transmission, which is well suited to compact worksites and offers precise and smooth handling during manoeuvers.

The new lift performance of all three models is also notable. The GTH 4018 has a lift height of 17.60 meters. It also offers impressive telescoping speed, at 13/8 sec (lifting/ lowering) and 22/13 seconds (extending/ retracting).  The outside turning radius of 3.80 meters is the tightest in its class, its cabin height the lowest, and its overall width is the narrowest, enabling easy manoeuverability in congested workspace within a wide variety of industrial and construction applications.

The GTH 5021 R follows suit with market-leading lift performance and a capacity of up to 5,000 kg, offered in a remarkably compact package for its lift capability. 

These telehandler models provide easy access to their components for daily inspections and maintenance work.  Their engine compartments are also simply laid out and easily accessible, with durable front and rear lights protected by metal grills, along with a dense and frost-resistant rubber fender and durable steel fenders on the GTH-4018 and GTH-5021 R respectively.

Genie also has upgraded the cabin of all three new models. Attractive fabric and interior materials with a luxury appearance and ergonomic design improves the cabin’s look and feel, and its optional amenities now include a more comfortable seat design and an MP3 radio that is easy to maintain and durable.

Production of the new Genie telehandler models for CE markets is planned for the last quarter of 2012.
