Mini crane lifts fashion icon in London
A UNIC mini crane was hired from lifting solutions specialist GGR Group to take on a more unusual lifting challenge at one of London’s most famous shopping destinations. The spider crane assisted in erecting a giant statue of iconic Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama at Selfridges department store on Oxford Street.
A URW-376 mini crane lifted the 500kg sculpture with precision to a height of 10.5m. The 2.9 tonne capacity mini crane worked efficiently overnight to lift the bubble-wrapped 6m tall model which features Kusama’s signature polka dot design.
GGR’s UNIC spider cranes are compact machines designed to lift from 0.995t to 10t in the tightest of spaces. The cranes can be quickly transported and set up on site.
GGR Group CEO Graeme Riley said: “This challenging lifting project shows that there is such a variety of applications which these versatile mini cranes can be used for as well as glazing and construction work.”
