Columbus McKinnon Converts Former Plant into Training Center

Columbus McKinnon Corp., Amherst, N.Y., has renovated its original Tonawanda, N.Y., company headquarters into a new training center. The facility, which most recently served as a LodeRail production plant, will hold classes for certification and training courses in various formats and will offer both classroom and hands-on learning.

Expanding its training offerings will enable the company’s distributors and users to be fully trained and learn in a controlled environment built for comprehensive training. The training programs are designed to increase workplace productivity while emphasizing ergonomics and worker safety.

Topics scheduled to be covered during 2011-2012 include hoist maintenance, rigging practices, load securement, safe hoisting, crane and hoist inspection, rigging gear inspection, mobile crane operator, industry regulations and overhead crane operator.
