Dozens of Dica crane and outrigger pads used at Manitowoc’s crane days

Dica displayed nearly 100 outrigger pads and crane pads from their SafetyTech, FiberTech, and FiberMax product lines at Manitowoc Crane Days held earlier this month in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania, USA. The pads were used under a variety of cranes – from boom trucks to ATs to self-erecting tower cranes – all of which were part of Manitowoc’s customer event.

“This was an excellent opportunity to showcase products and information from companies with which we have long-standing relationships. Manitowoc appreciates all of our vendor partners, who helped to add value to Crane Days for our customers,” said Chris Bratthauar, senior director of marketing at The Manitowoc Company.

Manitowoc’s event featured crane demos and walk-arounds. “Job site safety is fundamental to what we do at DICA. We were honored to participate in this event, which highlights the latest engineering innovations in crane technology and which demonstrated by example that proper crane setup starts with using crane pads every time you put your outriggers down,” said Kerry Koberg, strategic account manager at Dica..

LevelRight, one of Dica’s newest introductions, drew a lot of attention from attendees.

“There’s a genuine need to adjust the angle without using wedges or grabbing a shovel,” said Kerry. Crane users can easily modify the overall angle from 0-10deg and make adjustments in two planes up to 5deg with LevelRight. The 24in diameter adjustable leveling pad, LRST-24, can accommodate a square outrigger float of up to 20in or a round one of 24in. It has a rated capacity of 350,000lb. Kerry said, “We expect to have a product line range from 12in to 36in within the next year.”

FiberMax crane pads supported the Grove GMK 6400-1, a 400USt ATs in Manitowoc’s product line. Since their debut in 2014, FiberMax Crane Pads have cut transportation costs for crane owners by offering a solution that minimizes weight. FiberMax crane pads weigh 60%  less than steel or wood mats and have capacities up to 400,000lb, which is suitable for most mobile cranes rated up to 500USt.

Also on display were FiberTech and SafetyTech Outrigger Pads. Users can move FiberTech products by hand. More than 13 layers of quad axial continuous glass fibres and vinyl ester resin are combined to give FiberTech Outrigger Pads exceptional structural strength and stiffness in a lightweight package. Several models of SafetyTech Outrigger Pads were used at the event, including with the Potain HUP M 28-22A self-erecting tower crane. It was displayed on 3in Super Duty SafetyTech Outrigger Pads.

“It was great to see so many of our long-standing customers and meet new ones at the event, which brought in about 1000 dealers and users of Manitowoc cranes,” said Kerry.
