First Big Order for UpRight USA
Upright USA, Fresno, Calif., has received its first significant order for aerial lifts after re-launching production in North America. The company has secured an order worth more than $1 million from a U.S. rental company for 100 TM12 mast lift machines.
According to Darren Kell, director of UpRight USA, the United States is a multi-billion dollar market for powered access equipment • nearly as big as the rest of the world put together • and the most competitive. “This confirms our belief that there is a huge latent demand for UpRight products,” he said. “We are in negotiations with several major companies, over the supply of similar significant volumes of UpRight products, and we anticipate winning further orders.”
Kell formally took ownership of UpRight on June 12, and his company, The Tanfield Group, previously signed Heads of Terms with UpRight International on April 26. The U.S. business has dropped its Ui Distribution moniker in favor of a return to the UpRight brand. It has since re-opened assembly lines at its plant in Fresno to increase machine availability to the North American market.
