JLG Celebrates Its 100,000th Boom Lift

For 22 years, JLG Industries, McConnellsburg, Pa., has produced 40-foot boom lifts, and the company recently celebrated the production of its 100,000th boom lift, a 40-foot Model 400S, at its manufacturing facility in Shippensburg, Pa. At the commencement ceremony, Jason Watkins, the Shippensburg plant manager, gave the keys of the boom lift to JLG's sales and marketing group represented by Craig Paylor, senior vice president of marketing.

“In 1970, JLG's total production was one boom lift, and 36 years later we're now at our 100,000th machine,” Paylor said at the event. “This isn't about shipping 100,000 machines • this is about someone wanting to buy 100,000 machines.”

Paylor noted that more than 50,000 of the 100,000 JLG boom lifts sold have been 40-foot machines. “It has been out bread and butter, and it's what made the money for us all to be standing here today,” he said at the event.

The 100,000th machine will be sold in a private auction exclusive to JLG authorized dealers to make the Model 400S available to all its customers with a portion of the proceeds going to charity. When auctioned, the Model 400S will be equipped with the SkyPower generator, which produces 7,500-watts of power, and the SkyWelder 280-amp Miller welder in the platform.
