JLG Debuts Simplistic, Rental-Ready Electric Scissor Lifts at The Rental Show

JLG Industries, Inc., Hagerstown, Md.,  introduced the 1932RS and 3248RS RS Series electric scissor lifts at The Rental Show. Supplemental to the ES Series scissor lifts, the Rental Series electric scissor lifts are designed to be rental tough and simplistic.

The 1932RS and 3248RS offer platform heights of 19 feet and 32 feet and capacities of 500 pounds and 705 pounds respectively. The units share the direct electric drive motors, sheet metal over composite controls, and duty cycle capabilities. With only four hoses, there are few leak points on the machine.

With the idea of introducing a rental machine with fewer parts that require service, the scissor lifts incorporate a passive pothole protection system. Compared to an active system, the passive pothole system removes more than 70 components from the machine.

Also new is the easily accessible battery and hydraulic component storage area, which have service panels that lift off. The batteries and hydraulic systems also have been moved. The batteries are together on one side of the machine, while the hydraulics are located on the other.

Another item of note is the scissor stack design. The 1932RS will have a tube scissor stack while the 3248RS uses two welded C-pipes.

The 1932RS and 3248RS lifts include a multifunction digital indicator (MDI display) for battery evaluation and fault diagnosis. In addition, the lifts feature controls similar to the ES scissor, for ease of training and automatic traction control for optimal maneuverability. Fold-down guardrails on the 3248RS enable access through standard double doorways or under low obstructions. Options are limited on the RS scissors, although the 3248RS will have a pipe rack add-on. Both models will be available in late spring 2012.
