Kavanagh Recieves First Demag AC 220-5 in Ireland
Kavanagh, an Irish rental company with its head office in County Wexford, has started 2017 with the addition of a Demag AC220-5 to its fleet – the first in Ireland.
With a history dating back to the early 1970’s Kavanagh has expanded over the years and now has four strategically placed depots to service the country and their fleet of over 55 cranes.
The fleet, which consists of several two-axle city cranes up to 500t all terrain cranes, is predominantly Terex and Demag. The new Demag AC 220-5 has a 78m main boom length – the longest boom of any five-axle crane on the market. It is also compact crane being 14.52m long and 3m wide.
The AC 220-5 also benefits from the Terex IC1-Plus control system, which calculates lifting capacities for every position of the boom subject to slewing angle of the superstructure. This enables usage of the maximum lifting capacity especially when lifting over the outriggers, providing excellent lifting duties with the 18.7t counterweight, as travels.
The arrival of the AC 220-5 followed another first for Kavanagh as they received delivery of the first Demag AC 100-4L into Ireland, which arrived in October 2016.
“Demag is a name which we have trusted for many years and we were delighted to see this return last year” said Paul Kavanagh, director, Kavanagh Crane Hire Ltd. “We were also very impressed with the specifications of both the AC 220-5 and the AC 100-4L, particularly their boom lengths, which led us to placing the orders.”
