Liebherr RTG for Port of Cork, Ireland
Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. will supply a 16-wheel rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) crane to the Port of Cork, Ireland. The crane stacks one over five containers high and spans seven containers plus a truck lane.
Its safe working load is 40.6 tonnes under spreader, while hoist speed is 28-56m/min and trolley speed 70m/min. The crane’s travel speed is 70-135m/min.
Liebherr sales and marketing manager, Gerry Bunyan, said: “The addition of a cable reeling drum to the RTG for the Port of Cork, follows on from the supply of five similar RTGs to the Port of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
“The supply of electric RTGs was a natural next step in the ongoing development of our RTGs. In addition to the increased efficiencies and lower running and maintenance costs that electrification brings, there are major environmental benefits, such as lower emissions and reduced noise pollution.”
The eight rope reeving anti-sway system that is supplied as standard on all Liebherr cranes, coupled with the simultaneous operation of the gantry, hoist and travel motors, allows for positioning of the spreader and reduces the need for a headblock.
