Magnetek’s New Dynamic Braking Units Improve Operation | Industry News
Magnetek Inc. has launched its full line of CDBR-D Dynamic Braking Units. The Dynamic Braking Units work in concert with Dynamic Braking Resistors to dissipate excess energy produced by motors controlled by the company's Impulse Variable Frequency Drives. By removing the energy produced by decelerating and stopping, CDBR-D’s reduce potentially damaging heat in the motors.
New CDBR-D Dynamic Braking Units offer feature short circuit protection with an independent fault output, more diagnostic LEDs, and more available voltage threshold settings. Additionally, the CDBR-D units are rated to 60°C ambient operating temperature.
“Our CDBR-D Dynamic Braking Units require up to 40% less panel space than in previous generation CDBR-B models,” said Jason Wellnitz, Magnetek’s controls product manager. “This reduces enclosure and panel costs for our customer and increases catwalk space on the crane.”
