NACB Offers Crane Training at New Houston Facility

North American Crane Bureau, Inc. (NACB) has opened a training facility on the campus of Lee College in Baytown, Texas. Several training programs are being offered exclusively at the facility, including a mobile crane operator fast-track program, training in advanced rigging practices and principles, and overhead hoist maintenance training.

In order to meet the demand for trained and qualified hydraulic mobile crane operators, NACB is offering an intensive 160-hour training program at Lee College that is designed to prepare entry level operators for the industry. With a concentration on industrial carry-deck and less than 30-ton capacity rough-terrain and all-terrain cranes, the mobile crane operator fast track program offers a combination of classroom instruction, simulation training, and hands-on field training over a four-week period while under the guidance of NACB certified instructors. At the end of the program, each attendee will have an opportunity to take the written testing and practical field evaluations necessary to attain a certified crane operator credential designation under the NCCER/NACB Mobile Crane Operator Certification Program.

Also at the Lee College campus in Baytown is training in advanced rigging practices and principles. This includes classroom and hands-on training for rigging applications, performance standards, sling configurations, inspection criteria, and the use of various rigging gear.

Lastly, classroom and hands-on workbench training for maintaining overhead hoist systems is now offered at Lee College. The overhead hoist maintenance training program is a five day, 40-hour session that prepares personnel for the daily responsibilities of a hoist maintenance technician, including adjusting brake systems, troubleshooting electrical problems, discussing the inspection criteria, and conducting pneumatic system repairs on a variety of different hoists.
