NER Launches 24-Hour Tip Line

National Equipment Register (NER) recently created a 24-hour, national “Stolen Equipment Tip Line” at 866- NER-TIPS (866-637-8477). The hotline provides a way for anyone with information about stolen equipment to help combat a growing problem for equipment owners. In fact, one such call recently resulted in the recovery of nine machines worth nearly $400,000.

“Although our primary purpose is to respond to inquiries from law enforcement, we have sometimes received calls from concerned citizens who have information about suspicious equipment,” said David Shillingford, president of NER. “These types of calls increased dramatically in 2005, and the 'Stolen Equipment Tip Line' is designed to encourage more of these calls and reward the caller where appropriate.”
