Pettibone Unveils Pipe-Handling Telehandler

With the addition of a 60-inch wide baler attachment to its 10,000-pound capacity 10032 Extendo telehandler, Pettibone, Baraga, Mich., has created its first telehandler designed specifically for pipe-handling applications. Pipe yards and drilling companies can take advantage of the maneuverability and telescopic reach of a telehandler while handling pipes to 20 inches in diameter. Other applications include utilities, precast plants, and pole yards.

The baler attachment uses a 60-inch-wide carriage to securely handle 4- to 20-inch outside diameter pipes. Hydraulically actuated hold downs on the baler arms stabilize the pipe on 48-inch-long forks. A single joystick allows smooth operation of all boom and baler functions for maximum productivity.

Maximum lift height of the machine is 32'6”. The three-section boom goes to a maximum forward reach of 19'9” at its 24-inch load center, allowing operators to pick-and-place loads over barriers and obstacles. The 10032 will take 8,000 pounds up to the maximum lift height and 3,000 pounds to the maximum forward reach. The 10032 also features a 12'6” turning radius.

This model incorporates rough-terrain features common to all Extendo models, including four-wheel drive with planetary axles; four-wheel, two-wheel, and crab steering options; and clutchless powershift transmission with four forward and reverse speeds. A Tier 2-compliant Cummins 110-hp turbo diesel engine with electronic protection provides 20 mph travel speed. Frame-leveling is standard along with rear-axle stabilization.

Contributing to operator comfort and safety is a cab with excellent visibility, adjustable right-side arm rest and a full set of gauges for instant machine status. A GPS management system provides security through machine tracking while recording hours, utilization rates and maintenance history. Options include an enclosed cab with air conditioning, foam filled tires and light packages.
