SC&RA Names Crisis Communications Program Partner

Sound Counsel Crisis Communications LLC, Seattle, Wash., was recently named a program partner of the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA). Sound Counsel provides public relations services for companies in preparation for crises or during a difficult situation.

SC&RA recently hosted a free webinar by the company, which is archived under Past Webinars at www.scranet.org/webinars. Crisis Management – Effective Strategies for Dealing with the Unexpected provides information on how to speak to the media, strategies for getting your message out, how to use social media, and steps for regaining trust of customers, partners, and other stakeholders.

Among the tips Sound Counsel offers for crisis readiness are:

  • Get media training
  • Understand the principles of crisis response
  • Establish a chain of command
  • Prepare IT infrastructure
  • Compile lists of key contacts
  • Understand social media

Sound Counsel is led by J. Vander Stoep and Bruce Cordingly. Stoep is a lawyer with a long career in government affairs, having served as a state representative and chief of staff to a U.S. Senator. Cordingly’s experience includes working with Fortune 500 companies, universities, and government agencies.
