West Africa to Receive 15 Konecranes Rubber-Tyred Gantries | Industry News

Konecranes has received an order for 15 rubber-tired gantries (RTG) from Bolloré Group. The RTGs will be delivered to three container terminals operated in West Africa by Bolloré Africa Logistics. The order was booked in December 2014.

Two of these terminals are new Konecranes RTG customers: Togo Terminal in Lomé, Togo, purchased four RTGs and Benin Terminal in Cotonou, Benin, will be delivered five RTGs. Six RTGs will be delivered to Bolloré’s container terminal in Pointe Noire, Congo, which already operates Konecranes RTGs.

The 15 RTG cranes will be equipped with the Konecranes Smarter Cabin and updated technology like auto-steering, a variable speed engine, and a diesel fuel saver.

The RTG container positioning systems will be connected to the terminals’ Terminal Operating Systems ensuring correct, real-time container positioning and an accurate inventory. The RTG cranes will also be equipped with TRUCONNECT remote monitoring, enabling remote diagnostics for maintenance purposes.

The hydraulics-free, 16-wheel RTGs will have a lifting capacity of 40 tons stacking one-over-five containers high and seven-plus truck lanes wide.
